HSE Emergency First Aid at Work

Aims & Objectives

This new HSE approved qualification came effect on 1st October 2009, along with new guidance on assessing the needs of First Aid in your workplace. Your risk assessment of First Aid needs may well identify the need for Emergency First Aiders either as an addition to your First Aiders, or where the risk of your business is low. It may well identify them as being sufficient without the need of additional First Aiders.

  • Responsibilities and reporting
  • Shock
  • Heart attacks
  • Basic hygiene in First Aid
  • Angina
  • Seizures
  • Resuscitation
  • Control of bleeding
  • Choking
  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
  • Minor injuries
  • Assessment of the situation

Courses can be delivered at your site(max 12 candidates) or book onto one of our open courses held in Lincoln and Boston

Course Duration

6 hours excluding breaks

Delivery Technique

This course is delivered via a range of techniques including:

  • Instructor Led Presentation
  • Group Discussion
  • Practical Sessions

The amount of different methods of presentation is flexible to suit the needs of the group.

Course Assessment

This course is subject to ongoing assessment by the Instructor throughout the course. There is no final assessment. Competency based documented assessment ensures the required level of understanding.

Course Certification

All successful attendees will be awarded a certificate valid for three years.

The HSE recommend that candidates undertaken an annual 3 hour refresher every year
